Akagera National Park K9 Unit supported by African Parks

Dogs4Wildlife were requested to support the Akagera K9 unit based on the Akagera National Park in Rwanda. With an area of over 400 sq miles the K9 unit play a specialist role in protecting and conserving diverse wildlife populations within a biodiverse habitat. Dogs 4 Wildlife provided a detailed and advanced training programme and evaluation for both the K9 unit and reserve managers with a focus on developing a strong foundation in contraband detection and human scent tracking.
With such a vast range to cover, guidance was provided on a more suitable unit structure to provide more adequate cover and protection, alongside the development and advancement of the units 10 operational conservation dogs.
