OUR IMPACT
Canines - Conservation - Community
Conservation Dogs
Our elite human scent tracking dogs and specialist detection dogs support frontline conservation efforts, helping to reduce wildlife crime. Prevention, conservation and protection are the mission of this objective.
Snare Poaching
Together our dogs have helped locate over 3500 active snares across different wildlife reserves, this equates to 3500 lives potentially saved.
Successful Reactions
Our dogs have been used on over 500 active reactions, with many leading to poacher arrests. Such success also provides a high level of deterrent value for potential future incursions.
Patrols
Our dogs alongside their dedicated rangers have completed hundreds of patrols, covering 1000's of kilometres. Providing a strong presence and pro-active commitment.
Best Practise Standards
Our mission is to provide the highest quality of dogs, ranger training, welfare, management and continued support to a best-practice, benchmark standard.
Collaborative Deployments
Our conservation dogs have been used to support regional Police and Security efforts to reduce wildlife crime in the areas surrounding the wildlife environments they protect.
Advanced Ranger Training
Our advanced ranger training programmes and continued ranger support; increase skillsets, improves livelihoods and develops operational capacity. With a focus on continued unit cohesion, fluidity and capability, our training support creates best practise standards whilst developing lasting bonds that endure.
Up To Date Equipment
Our Ranger support includes up-to-date equipment and gear; from patrol boots to trousers and shirts, webbing, communications equipment, dog handling equipment, tactical equipment, GPS tracking collars (dogs), first aid kits etc. We aim to boost morale, whilst providing fit for purpose equipment.
Knowledge Sharing
Our mentorship programmes are designed to develop best practise learning opportunities for wildlife rangers. With over 10 operational units already supported we cover such topics as welfare and husbandry, kennel management, training and development, dog handling and operational deployment. Certificated Programmes
We compliment our knowledge sharing programmes with certificated training programmes designed to improve livelihoods, boost morale and increase capability. Our programmes cover: Trauma first aid, K9 first aid, specialist detection dog handling, tracking dog handling, explosive dog handling, general purpose dog handling. Courses are internationally endorsed and certificated.
Ranger Engagement
We hugely value the incredible wildlife rangers we support and as such are in constant communication with them to offer continued support, guidance and advice. Our organisational support does not stop once a training programme has been completed; we invest our time, energy and knowledge in continuing to inspire, motivate and collaborate.
Ranger Self-Development
We seek to motivate, inspire and provide the wildlife rangers we support with tangible opportunities, a sense of purpose, competency and pride. This autonomy filters throughout the wildlife reserves and into the local communities, spreading inspiration and passion for the natural world.
Community Initiatives
If conservation models focus only on wildlife and ecosystems, then we miss half of the solution. Lasting protection must include and motivate local rural communities and of course their children, so stewardship is rooted at home. Our diverse, but impactful community initiatives do just that.
We Learn in Nature
Siyafunda Ngemvelo
In partnership with The Connected Planet Foundation, our Siyafunda programme, that focuses on inspiring and building passion for the natural world in rural community schools, has so far impacted over 300 school children. With provided transport, lunches and conservation talks all whilst viewing incredible wildlife; we build lasting memories and future wildlife rangers.
Spay, Neuter & Rabies Vaccination Campaign
We have supported VAWZ - Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Zimbabwe since 2020, covering local communities across Zimbabwe. So far this project has vaccinated over 2500 dogs against Rabies, and spayed and neutered over 500 community dogs. We incentivise the community to bring there dogs to the clinics by providing leads and collars donated to our organisation.
Friend Animal Foundation
Working alongside this incredible animal sanctuary, our support has been multi faceted. We have provided knowledge sharing to the foundations handlers; including improved welfare, handling techniques and modern training systems, facilitated a certificated programme on K9 First Aid and are developing with the foundation a selection of their rescue dogs with a view to deploying them as conservation dogs across Zimbabwe.
Girl Guide Groups
In partnership with Wild Connections, we aim to support transformative camps that are designed to inspire, uplift, and empower girls - helping them unlock their potential, gain essential life skills, and foster a deep sense of confidence, connection, and community. Recently developed, this project has so far supported two groups of Girl Guides.
Conservation Programme
Our bespoke conservation programme provides members of the public an opportunity to appreciate and understand the complexity of conservation and how engaging with local communities can improve conservation models through empowerment, motivation, knowledge sharing and enhancing livelihoods. Funds from the programme directly impact rural communities.
